Carbon dioxide in the so-called supercritical aggregation state is used especially in the food, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and beverage industries for the production of natural compounds, flavors, fats, oils, polymers, enzymes and dyes. Despite its poor reputation as a greenhouse gas, CO2 is a natural and environmentally friendly solvent with synthetic and unhealthy liquids (such as n-hexane) in many ways inferior. Reciprocating pumps are mainly used to implement the carbon dioxide extraction method.
